RESULTS:
North
Kerry Junior Final Ballydonoghue (1-4) St. Senans (0-10). A disappointing
result considering the amount of chances we had to win the game. Playing
with the aid of a stiff breeze in the first half we only had three points
to show for our efforts after Stephan O' Connor, Kieran Kennelly and Kevin
Flavin had kicked a point apiece. Fortunately St. Senans couldn't mange
any better and the sides were level at half time. Both sides exchanged
a point apiece in the first 5 mins of the second half and a minute later
the first of two red cards was produced, the first one going to a St.
Senans player after a bit of harmless shoving that looked more like a
yellow card offence. Ten minutes into the half Kevin Flavin collected
a pass from Stephan O' Connor around the 50 meter line and he bore down
on goals side stepping three players before blasting to the goals for
an absolute cracker of a goal to put us two points ahead. We should have
went on to win the game from here and for awhile it looked like this would
happen as St Senans had yet to score from play (and didn't until the 18
min of the 2nd half). But we gave away two more scored frees, one of which
resulted in one of our players receiving a red card where again a yellow
would have sufficed. Particularly as the offending player had a few minutes
early been taken out by a late tackle from a St. Senans player. We seemed
to lose our way after this and we failed to score again. While St. Senans
went on to score three more points.
